Online Certified Childcare Professional Renewal Program

Program Description: The CCEI Online Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) Renewal Program is approved by the National Child Care Association (NCCA) to provide the 20 clock hours of childhood education training required for early childhood professionals seeking to maintain their Certified Childcare Professional Credential. The program addresses the 15 Professional Abilities of the Certified Childcare Professional Credential. Each student in the Online CCP Renewal Program receives support from an Education Coach (EC). Each EC is an Early Childhood specialist and has previous experience working in a child care center or school.

Program Objectives: Upon satisfactorily completing the Online CCP Renewal Program, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment for young children
  • List basic toy safety principles
  • Define early childhood development
  • Identify and define important terms related to the brain and how it develops
  • Define teamwork and the components required to manage and positively lead staff
  • Define the role of an early childhood advocate
  • List 5 reasons communication between parents and caregivers is important
  • List six methods for assessing young children
  • Identify ways to adjust the schools philosophy to include children with disabilities
  • List common learning centers found in an early childhood classroom
  • Identify the components of an effective early childhood curriculum

Student Assessment: Students enrolled in the Online CCP Renewal Program are assessed using the following methods:

  • Competency based multiple choice questions
  • Student activity and/or observations with written feedback
  • End of Course Quizzes in multiple choice format – Students must pass each quiz with a grade of 70% or better to complete the course.
  • Cumulative Final Exam in multiple choice format – Students must pass with a grade of 70% or better to complete the certificate program.

Enrollment Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED and submit documentation as proof
  • Must have access to a computer and printer
  • Must have a valid email address
  • Must have access to the Internet through a JavaScript enabled web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher, Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or higher, etc.)
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write well enough in the language the course is presented in to understand and complete the course material
